A Pair of Arrests Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the scene. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
